We don’t take Valentine’s Day too seriously around here. Tom and I are both not huge fans of the holiday. I do like flowers to put on our table every now and then. But I don’t expect flowers and chocolates and the whole bit for Valentine’s Day. But these kids and their love of holidays makes it more fun to do some simple things that are special.
This year Thomas’s class asked that each child make a Valentine box to collect their Valentine cards in. Originally, he wanted to cover a shoebox with paper and color it and put stickers on it. I found this cute hot dog at Target and bought it just in case he changed his mind. He ended up wanting to use it instead, and I think it turned out pretty cute!
He had his party last Friday and parents were invited. It took him some time, but he got all the names of his classmates written on the cards and ready to go mostly without my help. They had a cute ice cream party after lunch and then opened their boxes.
Arthur’s class had their party on Valentine’s Day since it was a school day for him. This was his first year to have a Valentine party, and he was pretty excited. His class had some extra treats during snack time and had a really cute bag he decorated to bring home with his Valentines gifts from his friends.
On Valentine’s Day, the boys woke up to balloons at their chairs in the kitchen. And Tom picked up some pretty tulips for the kitchen. We had a good meal at home and wrapped up the night thankful for lots of love in our house!
