This week we celebrated Tom’s 37th birthday. It’s so neat to me that we have been together as a couple either dating or married longer than we haven’t been. And I’m so grateful to have this man in my life. I am blessed to have him by my side as we continue on the journey God has placed before us.
The boys were excited as usual to celebrate. We keep it simple in the birthday area here, but it’s such a sweet time. After school on Wednesday, Thomas and Arthur helped make Symphony brownies and added a generous portion of Halloween candy toppings! I love that both of them love to help cook and enjoy being in the kitchen with us. Thomas continues to say he wants to play basketball and own a restaurant when he gets big. He dreams big!
After dinner they gave Tom his few gifts and we sang Happy Birthday. Try as we may, we don’t tend to get many good group photos. Someone is always doing something other than looking ahead and smiling. This time John Lloyd wasn’t in a photo taking mood due to his teething. They will make for sweet memories either way.
Good photos or not, these boys and I are truly blessed for the man God has shaped Tom to be and continuing to shape him into. Today I can’t separate the husband from the father he’s become, and I don’t think he would want me to. He’s humble and giving of his time all the time with the boys. It’s his greatest joy to spend time playing and wrestling with them. No matter what his day has held, he comes home with open arms and smiling to be with us. The Lord given him this heart, and I am so thankful.
