This week has been full in many good ways. Last weekend Tom played in the state tennis tournament. And we also began getting Christmas decorations down from the attic.
We have enjoyed a low key week at home, and especially loved having Thomas home from school this week. I think Arthur has enjoyed having his playmate back during the day. The boys also had dentist appointments. This was Arthur’s first teeth cleaning, and he did great! No cavities to report for either.
We haven’t had much planned for the week. We purchased a star for the top of the Christmas tree. And had some cooking to do. The boys have been asking to make a pumpkin pie for weeks. So in addition to trying out a new recipe for macaroni and cheese, we attempted a pumpkin pie to bring to Thanksgiving dinner. I had a recipe to do the entire thing from scratch. And naturally with three small children, that didn’t turn out quite like I planned. So we bought a premade dough and used the recipe I had just for the filling and whipped cream. It was a success to them! At this point both Thomas and Arthur both say they want to be chefs when they grow up. I love cooking with them and serving my family in this way. And it’s such a joy to have them help in the kitchen even if it’s also chaotic at times.
For Thanksgiving dinner, this year we spent with Tom’s side of the family. We headed over to their house for lunch. The weather was beautiful today. We spent time visiting and eating lots of yummy food. And the kids enjoyed playing outside together. John Lloyd was fussy from being off his schedule and getting some more teeth, so we were thankful to be back home for a little bit of nap time later this afternoon.
Tom and the boys finished putting up the Christmas lights outside, and we enjoyed leftovers for dinner.
We had a wonderful day being together as a family and look forward to long weekend to spend together.
