Our Easter weekend was filled with lots of activity. Starting on Thursday Thomas and Arthur both had Easter parties at their schools. They both had lots of fun!
My parents came in town Thursday as well. They were able to spend lots of time playing with the boys Thursday afternoon. They hadn’t seen Thomas or John Lloyd for their birthdays in March. There’s always excitement to see grandparents, even more so when they come with gifts! We all went to church for Maundy Thursday service and afterward had dinner at one of our favorite places. Eating dinner out doesn’t happen much for us right now. It’s usually more hectic than eating at home, so we don’t do it too often. But this night we sat outside and the weather was beautiful and had a really enjoyable dinner. It was a treat!
(They love playing school)
Friday my parents were heading home after lunch, so we had a low key morning just playing at home. They brought the boys a few Easter happies; some books and a bubble leaf blower that was an instant hit!
Saturday morning we did usual grocery shopping and hung around the house the rest of the day. We ended up making a ham and doing an early Easter dinner meal that night we would have leftovers for Sunday after lunch. We also made this blueberry dessert that my grandmother used to make all the time and was one of my favorites. I have so many memories of her at Easter. This always seems to be a time of year I think of her the most often.
Saturday night after getting the boys to bed, Tom and I put together a few treats in their Easter baskets and got everyone’s clothes ready for church the next morning.
Sunday morning was our Easter service. We tried to get a good picture of the boys together afterwards. This makes me laugh because it pretty much sums up John Lloyd’s demeanor right now. He’s cutting his molars, and they’re still making him one cranky baby. After lunch we all took long naps and then headed to Tom’s parents for dinner with his family. The cousins had a big time playing together as always.

This week leading up to Easter we’ve spent time with the boys reading through the events leading up to Christ’s death and resurrection. We’ve talked over what all this means for us throughout the week and preparing our hearts for the celebration of Easter. Tom and I have spent time discussing how it’s so hard to fully comprehend how amazing it is! We serve and know a Savior that loves us enough to die for us!
This weekend was such a gift of time spent playing and praying and snuggling and resting as a family and getting to celebrate together over our Savior and the greatest gift we’ve been given!
