We celebrated this boy today! This year he’s been asking to go camping for his birthday. The weather was a little chilly during the night this weekend, so we’re hoping it will work out for us to go in the next week or two. In the meantime, we had a wonderful day together. We started the morning with Tom’s usual Saturday Pancakes and then headed to the playground near our house for a while. Thomas got a new football and football gloves. Both boys took their footballs to play. This is something we love to do! The weather was perfect and just watching each of them play and take it in, I wish they could stay this age forever.
Later we headed to a market where Charles had some things he was selling and after had lunch with Marilyn.
Later this afternoon friends from the neighborhood came to sing Happy Birthday and have some cake.
For dinner we grilled hot dogs and hamburgers that Thomas requested. We wrapped up the night putting a puzzle together he got for his birthday. It was great to spend a Saturday together celebrating his birthday, having the whole day together. It’s hard to put into words how much we enjoy Saturdays just like this one together.
Thomas has changed so much this past year. He wakes up every day ready with a smile on his face. He’s a talker, and we get a pretty good running commentary most of the day. Outside of changing and growing so much physically, the changes in him since starting Kindergarten have been so great. He can read and write, and he’s enjoying school so much. Recently, he’s been reading some Dr. Seuss books by himself. Last week, I caught this picture of him reading to Arthur.
