Arthur is officially 4! And it’s hard to believe this precious child with such a sweet temperament is growing up so quickly.
Thursday at school he took a Spiderman cookie cake to celebrate his birthday with his class. We’ve done this the past few years with the boys, and they’re so cute and easy for school. They had cookie cake at snack and sang happy birthday. Sometime the next day he says to me, “Wait, I’m still three. Right?” He’s still at the age where celebrating your birthday not on your actual birthday may be a tad confusing!

The weekend of his first “official” friend birthday party was a bit of a whirlwind. My parents went ahead and came in town Thursday night to help watch Arthur and JL while I went with Thomas’s class on a field trip Friday morning.

Tom was also playing in a tennis tournament over the weekend, and we all went to watch him play in the late afternoon match on Friday. My dad spent a good portion of the match trying to keep up with the score and follow JL around as he made piles of sticks.

Saturday morning I had a few last minute errands to run: specifically Star Wars balloons for a Batman themed party per Arthur’s request. Tom was in charge of picking up the cake on his way home from tennis that morning. I was so pleased with how the cake turned out. We were having cake and a few snacks for the kids instead of doing more of a meal. In light of that, I wanted the cake to be tasty and cute. I went to a local bakery that I love and what they came up with didn’t disappoint. I basically said, “He wants Batman.” And this was the result…

That afternoon we were blessed with sunshine and warm weather. We ended up having a small party with family and a few close friends at our neighborhood playground and renting an inflatable. Easy Peasy!

The kids had a fun time and, most importantly, so did Arthur. Earlier in the day Thomas kept saying, “I can’t wait for Arthur’s party. He’s going to have so much fun.” It makes my heart so happy to hear them encouraging each other with kind words.

This picture I love. It captures his easy going nature. It’s as if he’s just peacefully watching all the action around him content as can be to wait to blow out his candles.

We played and visited with friends and managed to get one family photo before the sun finally set and we headed home to the frenzy of opening gifts.

Sunday was his actual birthday, so we saved the few gifts from us and the boys for him to open at the table when he woke up.

We had an awesome weekend celebrating our Arthur “bear!”
