A New Naptime

This little guy is on the verge of dropping his nap. Some days he sleeps. Some days he doesn’t. If he does sleep, he comes out of his room multiple times after we put them down for bed because he’s obviously not tired yet. Right now more days than not he just plays during rest time. We still have “rest” time for everyone even if they don’t actually need a nap. They can read or play quietly. But I think it’s good to have some quiet space for a little bit during the afternoon.

He’s just made it to three and a half and soon the nap will be a thing of the past.

One afternoon a few month or so ago he asked to rest with me on the couch instead of in his room. It’s the sweetest thing. He curls up beside me and will play with his bear or a toy for a few minutes and before I know it, he’s got his eyes closed. And from that afternoon forward, he asks to rest with me almost every day. Most days, I say yes. Because this time will be gone in a flash.

So here he is, Legos beside him. His arm around his bear, the same bear I cuddled when I was little. And it’s the most precious thing.
